GOD’S GRACE PLACE -- BCPF’s mission to assist the flood survivors and all those just needing a helping hand is now on-going with more than 40 families outfitted so far with clothing, shoes, kitchen items, bedding, etc.  We are well stocked with 2 rooms on the bottom level being full of replacements waiting to go up to the store.  Setting up the store and working several days and more each week have been Larry and Jane, Mary, Olivia, Jane G., Mary George and Lois, etc.  Our hours and volunteers signed up so far are: Monday 4 – 7 p.m.—Mary and Clara (sometimes Mary has functions at school and can’t make it, so maybe you could be on call on those particular nights); Wednesdays 1 – 4 p.m. –these hours are open so please sign up.  Also, on the 4th Saturday of the month which also coincides with Angel Food Ministries, our hours are from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  If you were able to sign up for 1 or 2 times a month, this would be a great help.  Or, if you know of someone who would be willing to pitch in, please let us know.  Our God’s Grace Place flyer (by Clara) is posted on the bulletin board as is the sign-up sheet.

The Men’s Dinner—everyone had such a great time with lots of fun and laughter (especially over the skit that Dick, Nathan, Sean and John P. put on in borrowed clothing from our “store” AND the women’s singing with very little rehearsal!).  With a 1950’s theme with appropriate music and drive-in food, a wonderful time was had by all.  The pictures are in the Fellowship Hall.

Our Booth at the Fair—giving out Bibles and information and sharing our booth with Angel Food Ministries, it was a warm and giving experience with high temperatures and many Bibles given out.  We also sold 5 cookbooks!

Hugging!—Hugging is healthy.  It helps the body’s immunity system, keeps you healthier, cures depression, reduces stress, induces sleep, is invigorating, is rejuvenating, has no unpleasant side effects and hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug.  Hugging is all natural.  It is organic, naturally sweet, no pesticides, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients and 100percent wholesome.  Hugging is practically perfect.  There are no movable parts, no batteries to wear out, no periodic checkups, low energy consumption, high-energy yield, inflation-proof, non-fattening, no monthly payments, no insurance requirements, theft-proof, non-taxable, non-polluting and, of course, fully returnable.  Thank you, God, for hugs!!!

A Few Remarks (and/or jokes)—Just going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Don’t let your worries get the best of you!  Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

Aspire to inspire before you expire.

Sunday School—held in the conference room on the second level at 9 a.m. every Sunday before church.  This is what you missed when you didn’t join us for “Fruits of the Spirit” a few weeks ago.

“Would You Recognize Jesus”
by The Statler Brothers

If you’ve never fed the hungry
Or given clothes to the poor,
If you’ve never helped a stranger
Who came knocking at your door,
If you forgot to send some flowers
To a sick and shut-in friend,
Well, if you ain’t helping none of these
Then you ain’t helping Him.

If you’ve ever seen some children
Playing ball behind the school
If you’ve ever watched an old man
Plowing around behind, a mule,
If you’ve ever stopped and listened
When you couldn’t hear a sou’nd,
Then, brother, you have met him
‘Cause Jesus gets around

Chorus: Would you recognize Jesus
If you met him fact to face
Or would you wonder if He’s just
Someone you couldn’t place.
You may not find him coming
In a chariot of the Lord,
Jesus could be riding in a ‘49 Ford.

You can find Him in your mama’s eyes
Or in your Daddy’s face,
You can find He’s always there
To help you win the human race.
You can find Him in the mountains,
Downtown or by the sea,
My God, here’s hoping someone
Can find Him in you and me!

Repeat chorus.

And for those of us with new knees (Ann, Olivia, Marilyn and Janice), a book or prayer was handed out at one of the hospitals—this is what it said.

Lord,
Make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love,
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it is in dying that we are born
To eternal life.

Angel Food Ministries—orders and information taken and given by Mary; Volunteer help needed every 4th Saturday of each month at 9:45 am. at Parkview Church’s fellowship hall. Takes about an hour to help them fill the boxes with your one item of food, then you get to go on with your day -- or from 10 a.m. -- 2 p.m., you can work at God’s Grace Place.
