Ruby Arlene Gardner Wright

Mrs. Ruby Arlene Gardner Wright was born December 1, 1929 in Green County, KY to the late Paul Revere Gardner and Eva Hortense Akin.  She departed this life Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, having attained the age of eighty years, eight months and fourteen days.  She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  She was employed at Union Underwear for thirty-five years.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son William Lane Wright, one sister Barbara Jean Gardner and one grandson Matthew Scott Wright.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband Rollin Simmons Wright and one son Wayne Wright (Rhonda) both of Greensburg, KY., two sisters; Nancy Geraldine Gardner Atheason of Lexington, KY., Elizabeth Ann Stroth of Crestwood, KY., one grand-daughter; Brittany Wright Judd (Todd R. Judd) and one great grandson Wyatt James Matthew Judd of Greensburg, KY.

Edward Wayne Compton

Edward Wayne Compton was born April 3, 1990 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to Carl (Hoss) Compton of Summersville, Ky. and the late Katie Compton.  He departed this life Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his home in Summersville, Kentucky, having attained the age of  twenty years, three months and twenty-five days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Union Baptist Church.  Besides his mother, he is preceded in death by Anna May Compton, Cody Compton and Jr. Pickford.

He is survived by one daughter:  Nevaeh Allison Compton of Green County, Ky., his step mother:  Kim Hancock Compton of Summersville, six brothers:  Rev. Emmitt and Connie Compton of Aurora, Illinois, Larry and Carolyn Compton and Steve and Mardena Compton, all of Summersville, Ky., Anthony Compton of Indianapolis, Indiana, Zachery and Daniel Compton, both of Campbellsville, Ky., fives sisters:  Liddie and Andrew Marshall of Portland, Oregon, Lena and Jimmy Smith of Richmond, Kentucky, Patricia and Andre' Calhoun of Summersville, Ky. Tiara Epperson of Greensburg, Ky and B.J. Anderson of Indiana.  A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Anna Compton Shively was born December 15, 1924 in Green County, Kentucky to the late Robert H Compton and Vester Hazelwood Compton.  She departed this life Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010 at the Golden Living Green Hill Manor in Greensburg, Kentucky, having attained the age of eighty-five years, six months and twenty-nine days.

Mrs. Shively had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Sunny Hill Church of Christ, Campbellsville, Kentucky.  She was a graduate of Durham High School and of the Madame C.J. Walker Beauty School.  She was united in marriage to James Franklin "Tutt" Shively July 7, 1946.  Besides her parents and husband she is preceded in death by four brothers:  James John Compton, Henry Compton, Marshall Compton and one infant brother and four sisters:  Liddy Gaddie, Ethel Alexander, Minnie Cowherd and Pauline Staten

Leaving to mourn her passing are two daughters:  Linda Sue Shively Morton and Rita Ann Shively, one son:  James Franklin "Sonny" Shively and his wife Teria A. Shively, grandchildren:  Troy Shively and wife Brandy Shively, Gary Phillip Morton II and fiancé Priscilla, Amber Boards and her husband Kenny, great grandchildren:  Stanton, Skyler, Donte, Travon, Cain, Ricki and Dedrick, one sister:  Bessie Williams and one brother:  Carl "Hoss" Compton.   Also surviving are special friends:  Addie Wood, Judy Nunn, Gladys Cowherd and Jeanette Bishop.  Several nieces, nephews and other special friends, also survive.

James Arvin Ray

Mr. James Arvin Ray was born April 6, 1933 to the late Albert Arvin Ray and Pearl Whitehead Ray in Green County, Kentucky.  He departed this life Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Golden Living Center (Green Hill Manor) in Greensburg having attained the age of seventy-seven years, three months and two days.
Mr. Ray had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith, he was also a farmer.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson Ricky Bowles, one sister Sally Walker, one brother Twyman Dean Ray, two half sisters; Nora Ethel Coats, Barbara Aileen Underwood, two half brothers; William Lee Ray and Micky Ray, and one step-sister, Helen Wright.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Ray (Carol), two daughters: Mary Ann Chrisman (Bob), and Patsy Cox (fiancé Rusty Morris), two brothers; Leslie "Bill" Ray, and Franklin D. Ray, three half brothers; Ronnie Earl Ray, Albert Arvin "June bug" Ray Jr., and Larry David Ray, three grandchildren Steven Bowles (Stephanie), Adam Cox all of Greensburg, and Wayne Ray (Jennifer) of Columbia, eight great grandchildren:  Ashley Bowles, Kennedy Ray, Anderson Ray, Mary Proctor, Tyler Murphy, Katlyn Bowles, Aiden Bowles and Destiny Curry and one step great grandchild:  Sarah Milby

Holland Patterson

Mr. Holland Patterson was born November 8, 1929 in Green County, Kentucky to the late Guary H. and Alice Pruitt Patterson. He departed this life Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY., having attained the age of eighty years, five months, and twenty-two days.

Mr. Patterson had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greasy Creek Baptist Church.  He was also a Kentucky Colonel and a farmer.  He was united in marriage December 25, 1948 to Vada Raye Fields who preceded him in death August 10, 1995.  Besides his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one son Randy Holland Patterson.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law:  Shirley Lynn and Roger Morgan of Greensburg and two sons and daughters-in-law:  Danny Lee and Cathy Patterson of Greensburg and Clark Dale and Pam Patterson of Louisville, Ky.  He is also survived by one sister and one brother:  Mary Twyman Simpson and Amol Allen Patterson, both of Greensburg, six grandchildren; Farrah Pruitt, Tarrah Dean, LaTanya Corbin, Tina Judd, Grant Patterson and Danielle Wright, four step grandchildren; Patti Pruitt, Dale Morgan, Sherry Sharp, and Angela Bryant, six great grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.

Constance Parent (Tobin) age 79, passed away January 20, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida.  She is survived locally by one daughter Linda Martel and her husband Richard, and one grandson Christopher all of the Summersville Community. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, in Edmunston, N. B. Canada with Father Desjardins officiating, with burial to follow in the Veteran's Cemetery in Caribou, Maine.

Florence Dorothy Russell

Mrs. Florence Dorothy Russell was born July 5, 1915 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late William F.H. Piel and Ida Beaty Piel.  She departed this life Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, Greensburg, Ky., having attained the age of  ninety-four years, eleven months and seven days.

Mrs. Russell had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Dolan, Indiana. She attended the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church for the past fifteen years. She was a cook.   She is preceded in death by her husband Sherman Ellsworth Russell, one brother Clay Piel and one sister Lula Huffman.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law:  Bill and Bettie Jo Larimore Russell of Greensburg and one daughter and son-in-law:  Susan and David Miller of Mitchell, Indiana.  She made many wonderful friends.

Wanda Barger, age 68 of Louisville passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 in Louisville.  She is survived by her husband Harold Barger, three sons:  Troy, Timmy and Harold Jermaine Barger, all of Louisville.  She is also survived one brother and sister-in-law:  Arzo (Skillett) and Claire Miller of Greensburg, one sister:  Phyllis Miller of Columbia and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Wanda Barger will be conducted 11 A.M. Eastern Time Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the G.C. Williams Funeral Home in Louisville.  Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M. Eastern Time Friday in Louisville.

Darlene Louise Gumm

Darlene Louise Gumm, age 74, entered into heavenly rest on Thursday, May 6, 2010 following a brief battle with cancer.  She was home surrounded by loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Norman Gumm in 2003, her parents Harry and Mary Williams, her brother, Harry Williams, Jr. and one step-daughter, Moenica Guerin.

Darlene was a loving wife and mother, devoted daughter and granddaughter and friend to many.  She was a fantastic cook.  She was always prepared with a quick word of sage advice, "Let me tell you, kiddo."  She lived and incredible life, traveling the world with her parents in her youth, living in Scotland, England and numerous places in the States.  She survived a hurricane.  She was a caregiver all her life, becoming a mother at seventeen, nursing sick grandparents, parents, her husband, and a mentally and visually challenged child up to the last three years of her life, hindered only by her own health limitations.  She has earned her rest and Daddy is so very happy to have her join him.  Rest easy, Mama.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Colleen Bunzey and husband Berk of Sugarloaf Key, Florida, Vickie Baldwin and husband Mark of Tacoma, Washington, Mary K. Gumm of Vinton, LA.,  and Kimberly Scallon and husband Bubba of DeRidder, LA.  One son Albert Mulkey III of Tacoma, Washington, two step-sons: Dennis Gumm of Port Arthur, TX., and Billy Gumm (Kathy) of Campbellsville, KY., three step-daughters: Jeri Lynn Stone and husband Joe of Campbellsville, KY., Lisa Gonterman of Upton, KY., and Connie Noe of Hodgenville, KY., fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a devoted sister-in-law and caregiver, Doris Williams of DeRidder, LA., a sister-in-law Mary Parr of Louisville, KY., and a loving sister in  heart, Ida Monk of Wiggins, MS., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Darlene Gumm will be Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Chaddick Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Graveside services will be conducted for Mrs. Gumm at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 13, 2010 at O'Banion Cemetery in Greensburg, Kentucky under the direction of the
Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.

Elam Perkins

Elam Leslie Perkins was born May 11, 1924 in Green County, Kentucky to the late William F. and Elizabeth Sandidge Perkins.  He departed this life Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Highland Nursing and Rehab. Center in Louisville, Kentucky, having attained the age of eighty-five years, ten months and twenty-seven days.

Mr Perkins  had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel Methodist Church. He was Sheriff of Green County for 4 years and Deputy Sheriff of Green County for 4 years.  He was a member of the F.O.P,  Ky Sheriff's Association, James L. Pruitt Post  5813, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Rod Lowe Post 124, American Legion. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Rucker Perkins, two brothers, John Milton (Man) Perkins and William Franklin (Jack) Perkins and one sister, Roxie (Kupie) Mays.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law,  Jerry and Claudia Perkins , one granddaughter and her husband, Yvette and Darren Phillips, two great-granddaughters, Gabby and Shyanne Phillips, all of Shepherdsville, Ky.
