John Richards, 70, of Rising Sun passed away at his home on July 11, 2010.

He was born in Rising Sun on May 25, 1940, the son of Harry and Edith Matthews Richards.  He was a retiree of Aurora Casket Company.  He was married to Lela Henderson on May 23, 1959.
 
Surviving is his wife Lela. Two sons, John (Maritza) Richards of Noblesville, Indiana and Rex Richards of Rising Sun.  Two daughters, Missy (Odis) Davis and Annette Richards of Rising Sun.  Eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Brothers Harry, Glenn, Robert, and Bill all of Rising Sun and Danny of Aurora, Indiana.
 
Funeral services will be Thursday July 15th at 11:00 AM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Swango officiating. Burial wil be in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
 
If desired, memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun First Baptist Church, Rising Sun Life Squad or donor's choice.

Michelle Renee Lange, 31, of Florence, Kentucky passed away on May 27, 2010. She was born June 15, 1978 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

She was a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, class of 1996. She was employed at US Bank in Hebron, Kentucky as a Teller-Coordinator.
 
Surviving is her son, Dylan Combs. Her parents, Ann (Behr) and Brian Taylor of Panama City, Florida and Jeff Lange of Aurora, Indiana.

Life partner, Samantha Riley of Florence, Kentucky. Her sisters Autumn (Josh) Ehling of West Harrison, Indiana, Darci and Shelby Taylor both of Rising Sun, Indiana.
 
Visitation will be Tuesday June 1, 2010 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home, Rising Sun.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11:00 AM in the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hedge Cemetery, Rising Sun, beside her infant daughter, Savannah, who preceded her in death in 1998.
 
If deisred memorial donations may be made to the Dylan Combs Trust % US Bank-2121 North Bend Road, Hebron, Kentucky 41048.

Florence H. Carver, 83, of Patriot passed away at her home on April 21, 2010. She was born in New Town, Ohio on February 9, 1927, the last surviving child of Joseph and Ethel Ebner.
 
Funeral services will be Saturday April 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with burial in East View Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.

Visitation will be Saturday 11:00 AM until time of services.
 
Surviving are two sons, Michael Allen Carver and wife Georgia, and  Robert William Carver both of Patriot.  One daughter Joyce Earls and husband Walter of Quercus Grove, Indiana.
Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 
If desired, memorial donations may be made to Southeast Indiana Hospice or donor's choice.

Naomi Brown, 76, of Rising Sun passed away March 19, 2010 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born May 4, 1933, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Wagner Berkley.

She was married to Gerald Brown on September 22, 1951.

Surviving are two sons; Gerald Brown Jr. (Dee Dee) of Rising Sun, Steve Brown (Delana) of Moores Hill.  Two daughters; Debra Henry (Sonny) and Bridgett Bolling (Jim) both of Rising Sun.  Six grandhcildren; Chad Henry (Shannon), Zachary Brown, Shay Brown, Amber Louks (Matt), Jessica Issacs, Matt Issacs.  Three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Kaitlyn Henry, and Kristen Brown.  One brother, Arthur Berkley (Ozina) of Rising Sun. One sister, Pauline Webster, also of Rising Sun.

Funeral services Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with burial in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation Monday 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Samuel F. Jones

Samuel F. Jones, 75, of Rising Sun passed away at Dearborn County Hospital on February 25, 2010. He was born August 23, 1934 in Switzerland County, the son of John T. and Flossie Scott Jones.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Thatcher Glass before retiring.
 
He was married to Mildred Kittle Jones who survives. Also surviving is one son Matthew Jones and one daughter Julie (James) Cutter all of Rising Sun.  Four grandchildren, Jamie Lambertson, Sam Jones, Samantha and Krystal Cutter.  Two great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Olivia Lambertson.  Two sisters, Evelyn Cone of Rising Sun and Juanita Darling of Lawrenceburg.
 
Visitation will be held Monday March 1, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home, Rising Sun, with funeral services following at 7:00 PM.

Thelma Collins, 98, of Rising Sun passed away at Dearborn County Hospital on February 12, 2010. She was born February 12, 1912 in Ohio County the daughter of James and Pearl Williams Monroe.

She was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, class of 1929. She graduated from the Indiana State Teachers College in 1931 and taught thirty years in Ohio County.
 
She was married to Austin Collins on October 6, 1934. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1998.

She was a member of the Rising Sun United Methodist Church, Progressive Homemakers Club, and Indiana State Teachers Assoc. and was a faithful volunteer at the Ohio County Historical Society, Ohio County Public Library, and the Senior Citizens Meal Site.
 
Surviving is her daughter Jill (Eugene) Elliott of Rising Sun and her son Barry (Sherry) Collins of Florida. Four grandchildren: Chris Collins, Jodie (Rodney) White, Melissa (David) Massey and Mike (Jamie) Elliott.  Five great-grandchildren; Meghan Massey, Nate and Avery Elliott, Gabriel and Codie White.
 
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with burial in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Roszetta Bradley

Roszetta Bradley, 95, of Rising Sun passed away on January 26, 2010 at The Waters of Rising Sun. She was born October 1, 1914 in Grant County Kentucky, the daughter of Samuel and Hattie May Calendar Boyd. She was married to Lora Robert Bradley on September 27, 1933. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1981.

Their lives were spent in the Rising Sun community where Mr. Bradley operated a garage and drove a school bus. Roszetta was a homemaker. She enjoyed her garden and flowers and living along the Ohio River where she loved to visit with people as they passed by her home.

Surviving is her daughter, Marie Gilmore, of Rising Sun.

Two grandsons, Jeff (Becky) Gilmore, Dennis (Becky) Gilmore. One granddaughter, Vickie Craig, all of Rising Sun.

Five great-grandchildren; Jason (Jennifer) Craig, Adam (Miranda) Gilmore, Jamie (Charlie) Smith, Christopher Gilmore, and Jenna Craig.

Three great-great grandchildren; Caden Gilmore, Camden and Corbin Craig.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday January 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with burial in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation wil be Friday 11:00 AM until time of service.

  Dorothy Fay Ryle

Dorothy Fay Ryle, 85, of Whiteland, Indiana passed away on January 13, 2010 at the Homeview Health Center in Franklin, Indiana. She was born January 21, 1924 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of Daniel and Bonnie Zimmerman.

She was a homemaker. She was married to Harold Ryle who precedes her in death. She is also preceded by a daughter, Diana.

Surviving is her son Daniel and wife Bernita Ryle. Two grandsons, Daniel and Michael Ryle and five great-grandchildren, all of Whiteland.

One sister, Mary Begley of Indianapolis.

Graveside funeral services will be  held Monday January 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Rising Sun Cemetery, Rising Sun, Indiana.

Mary E. Lloyd, 80, of Rising Sun passed away on November 15, 2009 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born November 26, 1928 in Aurora, Indiana, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude Fitzel Miller.

She was married to Hubert Elza who preceded her in death in 1977, and three children, Richard and Ronald Elza and Sandy Buffington. Her husband Ronald Lloyd also preceded her in death in 2004.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home, Rising Sun, with burial in Cedar Hedge Cemetery, Rising Sun. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Surviving are three sons: Hubert (Donna) Elza of Oklahoma, Robert (Marilyn) Elza of Ohio, and Gary Elza of Rising Sun.

Three daughters: Delores (Stanley) McMullen of Georgia, Carolyn (Tony) Mattox of Oklahoma, and Phyllis (Kevin) Baker of Rising Sun.

Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dale Ray Lambertson

Dale Ray Lambertson, 56, of Rising Sun passed away October 7, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Ohio County Indiana on December 3, 1952, the son of Willard and Gertrude Henry Lambertson.
 
He was a Security Guard at Grand Victoria Casino and Resort in Rising Sun. He was a US Army veteran and served in the Army National Guard.
 
Funeral services will be Monday October 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Hedge Cemetery, Rising Sun.
 
Visitation will be Monday 11:00 AM until time of service.
 
Rising Sun American Legion Post 59 will perform military honors at the graveside.
 
Surviving are two brothers; Larry Lambertson of Utah, and James Lambertson of Rising Sun.
Two sisters; Doris Fertig and Joy Fitzgerald both of Rising Sun.
One step-son Stan and step-daughter Tonya.

Pearl Rand

August 24, 2009

Pearl Rand, age 104, passed away on August 24th, just 6 days before her 105th birthday. She was born in Carrollton, Kentucky on August 30, 1904, the daughter of Charles and Lillian Moore Skidmore. She was the second youngest of 11 children. No others survive her.
 
On January 26, 1924 she was united in marriage to Floyd Rand. He preceded her in death in 1974. They were the parents of two children, Charles Floyd and Roberta Jeanne. Her son also preceded her in death in 1983.
 
For the past 10 years she has resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico near her daughter. For the first 6 years she was able to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. While living in Albuquerque, she enjoyed being an honorary queen of the local Red Hat Society; working in a sewing group, and attending Grace Church when able. She crocheted over 75 baby blankets for newborns at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
 
During her long life in Rising Sun, she was a faithful  member of the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star and a founding member of the SEO Club. She served as organist for Eastern Star for 50 years as well as past Worthy Matron.
She may be best remembered by numerous local youth who she taught piano or made doll dresses for many little girls in the community.
 
Surviving is her daughter Roberta Radigan and husband Charles.
Five grandchildren and their wives: Michael and Celine Radigan, Steven and Linda Radigan, Kerry and Dennis Miller all of New Mexico.
Thomas and Sandra Radigan of Thailand, and Dr. & Diane Rand Crisman of Fremont, Indiana.
She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be Friday  August 28th at 1:00 PM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeal Home wit burial in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.

Rising Sun Order of Eastern Star will provide memorial services just prior to the funeral service.

Delores Lemons, 87, of Rising Sun passed away at the home of her son on August 21, 2009.  She was born February 10, 1922 in Dearborn County Indiana.

She was married to Rolan B. Lemons on November 30, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, member of the First United Church of Christ in Rising Sun, and the Rising Sun Eastern Star where she was Past Matron.
 
Surviving are two sons, Bill Lemons and wife Susan of Rising Sun, Ronald and wife Donna of Florida. Two grandchildren Terry Leist and Kellie Javid of Florida and one sister, Ruth Ann Fessler of Aurora.
 
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home, Rising Sun, with burial in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Eastern Star services at 7:00 PM.

James Dale (Jimmy) Baker, 49, of Dillsboro passed away on May 3, 2009.

He was born in Dearborn County on February 14, 1960, the son of Clarence and Doris Bradley Baker.

He and his wife operated NECS a staffing company in Dillsboro.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 9, 2009 at  10:30 AM in the Humphrey-Taylor-Detmer Funeral Home, Rising Sun, with burial in Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

Surviving is his wife Patricia of Dillsboro, his mother, Doris Baker of Aurora.

Two daughters, Miranda Collins and Ashley Adams of Wabash, Indiana.

One son C.J. Baker of Warsaw, Indiana.

Two grandchildren, Tristan and Avriana Collins.

Two step-sons, Delbert Lee McGill and Robert Allen McGill both of Washington.

Two brothers, Clarence Baker Jr. of Moores Hill, Allen Baker of  Lawrenceburg.            .

One sister Sheila Goff of Aurora.
