CASKETS
Koch Funeral Home offers a full size selection room where you are able to choose and inspect the exact casket you will
be purchasing. If you can not find the exact casket you wish to purchase on our selection room floor we offer customers the
option of ordering from Batesville Casket Company’s catalog. They are our primary provider of caskets and their distribution
center can accommodate us with next day delivery (except Sunday) of any in-stock casket at no additional charge.
Photos shown are of caskets with half couch lids and are not available through our Batesville distribution center for next
day delivery. Only full couch caskets are available for next day delivery, half couch caskets may take three days to deliver.
These half couch casket photos are used to allow you to see the look of the casket opened at one end and the look of the casket
if it were closed at the other end.

Bronze and Copper caskets are the finest metals used in casket construction because of their permanence and durability.
Theses metals will never rust with bronze being stronger than copper.

Stainless steel is a rust resistant metal. There are two grades of stainless: Premium Stainless is made with 18 % chromium
and 8% nickel. Basic Stainless offer less rust resistance because it is made with 12% chromium.

Carbon steel The major difference in steel is the thickness of the metal. The thicker the metal, the longer it last. 16
gauge steel, the thickest steel used, is 133% longer lasting than the thinnest 20 gauge steel. 16 sheets of 16 gauge steel
equal one inch. 18 gauge steel, the medium thickness of steel, is 58% longer lasting than the thinnest 20 gauge steel. 20
gauge steel is the thinnest steel used in making caskets.

Wood. Some families prefer wood caskets because of the warmth and beauty of the various wood species. The premium and most
valuable of the wood species are Mahogany and Walnut, standard wood species include Cherry, Maple, Pecan and Oak and basic
wood species include Pine and Poplar.

Although not required by state law, most cemeteries require that you purchase a vault. Wilbert Vaults are
our primary provider of vaults.

Urns come in many varieties of marble, bronze, stainless steel, wood or ceramic. They can be as simple as
a box design or as elaborate as a bird in flight or a western boot. Biodegradable urns, scattering urns and urn vaults are
also available.
