IN MEMORY OF:
Walter Ruel Stinnett

Walter Ruel Stinnett, age 84 of Hardinsburg, KY died Friday, 10-24-2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on December 5, 1929, the son of the late Alvin and Viola Simmons Stinnett. Walter was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran. He was a former employee of Ford Motor Company and was a retired Breckinridge County Deputy Jailer. Walter loved his family and spending time with them on his farm. He was an avid U of K Wildcat fan and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees.

He was preceded in death by his wife - Mable Stinnett 5-9-2014
daughter - Janet Sue Stinnett
grandson - Chris Hale

Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Monday, 10-27-2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Harry Dooley and Rev. Bob Sharp officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the New Bethel Cemetery. Visitation at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Sunday, 4-8 PM and Monday at the church after 9AM.

William Gilbert Hess

William Gilbert Hess, age 84 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2014. He was born on November 6, 1929 to the late Clarence and Loretta Deacon Hess. Also preceding him in death are seven siblings: Clarence Hess, Roy Hess, Kenneth Hess, George Hess, Robert Hess, Lily Mae Bedsole and Bernadine Maultsby.

Bill was married to the late Bonnie Joyce Livers Hess and their union brought seven children with whom they laughed, lived and loved together.

He is survived by one son: William Joseph Hess (Mary Jo) of Hardinsburg, KY

He was a Korean War veteran, worked 40 plus years at the L & N Railroad, was a part time farmer, loved his family, loved his treasured pets, was a member of the High Rollers Softball team, league bowler, was a shark at playing cards, an avid lotto player and loved to drive. Everyone in town knew our Daddy as Poppy.
Memorial services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 12 PM with Rev. Don Bruington officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Mount Merino Cemetery in Irvington, KY. Visitation will be held on Saturday, 11-8-2014 beginning at 10:30 AM.

As a tribute to our daddy, we thank God for the gift of his life and letting him live it long and his way. Thank you for the many blessings, the many, many times we simply picked up the phone and said "Daddy, we need you" and you were there. We will miss our first of the month bread runs and cookie snack deliveries. If Poppy has said this once, he said it a thousand times, "slow down you are working too hard, take a break". Wish we could hear it one more time. We get it now daddy. Momma is ready, your new journey has just begun.....

Irene Hannah Milburn Davis, age 94 of Harned, KY died Monday, 10-20-2014 at her residence. She was born on March 21, 1920 in Custer, KY,  the daughter of the late Press Foote and Hester Ann Board Milburn. Mrs. Davis and her husband owned and operated the Davis General Store in Garfield, KY. She was a member of Garfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and being with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delphus Otis Davis

Paul Owen Osborne, age 76 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, 10-12-2014 at his residence. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on November 11, 1937, the son of the late Elliott and Effie Voyles Osborne. Paul was a member and deacon of New Bethel Baptist Church and a 40 year Mason with the Hardinsburg Masonic Lodge. He was a farmer and enjoyed watching U of K basketball and listening to bluegrass gospel music.

Owen B. "Shorty" Hoskinson

Owen B. "Shorty" Hoskinson, age 76 of Howe Valley, KY died Sunday, 10-12-2014 at North Hardin Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on February 27, 1938, the son of the late Jesse and Maggie Hicks Hoskinson. Shorty retired from the Breckinridge County Road Department as an equipment operator and was a farmer. He graduated from Irvington High School and attended Constantine Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending church and singings.

Shorty was preceded in death by his wives: Pauline Saddler Hoskinson and Phyllis Haire Hoskinson

IN MEMORY OF:
Roy Duvall Ladd

Roy Duvall Ladd, age 67, of Hardinsburg, Ky. died on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his residence.  He was born on February 27, 1947 to the late Raymond Rufus and Myrtle Amelia Engelhart Ladd.  He was a Marine Veteran who loved Hardee's Monster Burgers, seafood and his poodle dog, Molly who died three years ago. He enjoyed being around people and was a friend to all he met.
 
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Stephen Ladd.
 
He is survived by three brothers, Raymond and Allen Ladd of Florida; John Ladd of Maryland and two sisters, Peggy Navarre and Glenda Thompson both of Maryland.  He is also survived by his special friend and companion Ronda Puckett and several nieces and nephews.
 
In honor of Roy's wishes, cremation was chosen.

James Edwin Elliott, age 88 of Hudson, KY died Wednesday, 10-8-2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fairfield, KY on August 19, 1926, the son of the late Roy and Edna Whitworth Elliott. He was a retired construction worker and enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shellie Elliott and sister Beatrice Porter.

Ralph Eugene "Gene" Upchurch, age 77 of Custer, KY died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Monticello, KY on July 16, 1937, the son of the late Cleo and Ruby Ramsey Upchurch. Gene retired from Phillip Morris, was a member of Stinnettsville Community Church and Scottish Rite and an Army veteran. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Bewleyville Masonic Lodge. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, farming, horseback riding and flower gardening. He was an avid U of K basketball fan.

James Granville "Jim" Buhel

James Granville "Jim" Buhel, age 72 of Leitchfield, KY died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on May 31, 1942, the son of the late William M. and Anna Mae Wilson Buhel. Jim retired from the Breckinridge County Board of Education having taught for many years in several of the county schools. He was the former equipment manager for the BCHS Fighting Tigers football team, former photographer and videographer for BCHS sports.He and his wife Wanda were cheer coaches for BCHS, Irvington Elementary and Custer Elementary cheerleaders as well as basketball coach at Ben Johnson and Custer Elementary schools. He was the former pool supervisor at Breckinridge County Community Center, a former member of the Hardinsburg Masonic Lodge, Shriner  and American Legion Post 81 in Leitchfield, KY. He enjoyed drag racing, golf and "tinkering" with vehicles. He and Wanda were foster parents for many years and he was very instrumental in shaping the lives of several students that he taught.

He was an Air Force veteran and spent much time as a photographer during his service years.

He was preceded in death by his sister Peggy White.

She was born in Union County, KY on January 15, 1914, the daughter of the late Robert and Della Taylor. Mrs. Frakes was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, family genealogy and church activities.

James Rondall "Billy" Riley

James Rondall "Billy" Riley, age 74 of Hardinsburg, KY died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at The Heartford House in Owensboro, KY. He was born in Waterview, KY on February 11, 1940, the son of the late Cecil and Lurie Spears Riley. Billy retired as a security officer having worked for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office in Marietta, GA and Brown and WIlliamson in Louisville, KY. He and his wife were members of Cloverport Baptist Church. Billy enjoyed gospel music, antique cars and U of K sports. He was an immaculate gardener and enjoyed taking care of his beautiful flowers. His time spent with his family was always full of laughter.

He was preceded in death by his sister - Barbara Allen Butler and his brother - Roy Riley

Jack D. Weatherford

Jack D. Weatherford, age 86 of Iuka, IL formerly of McQuady, KY died September 30, 2014 at his home in the loving care of his family.  He was born on August 5, 1928 in McQuady, KY, the son of the late Ira and Jessie Weatherford.  Retired as a book-binder for Salem Gravure-Division of World Color Press,  he was of the Baptist faith and a life time member of the Moose Lodge. An outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt squirrel and deer.

He married Dorothy Sue Morris in December 1947 and she preceded him in death on August 20, 2004.

Gilbert Elijah Norton, age 85 of Custer, KY died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Webster, KY on December 13, 1928, the son of the late Elijah and Cora McCubbins Norton. He was a former employee of Irvington Gas Company and retired after 26 years of service. Mr. Norton was an Army veteran and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Allene Norton , his son Randy Norton and his brother Harold Norton.

Ralph D. Tucker

Ralph D. Tucker, age 80 of Hudson, KY died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Mook, KY on May 30, 1934, the son of the late James Lotis and Edith Whitworth Tucker. Ralph retired as Superintendent of the Breckinridge County School system and worked in education for over 50 years.

He was a member and elder of Coyles Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Hudson Masonic Lodge and enjoyed reading and farming.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Alice Rhodes Tucker in 1999.

Ralph is survived by 3 children: Nina Laslie and her husband David of McDaniels, KY
James D. Tucker and his wife Oletta of McDaniels, KY
Kenny Tucker and his wife Bonnie of Hudson, KY
9 grandchildren: Kimberly Hunt, Tracy Bratcher, Wendy Lee, Terry Laslie, Leslie Anthony, Kevin Tucker, Kelly Tucker, Angela Tucker, Bradley Tucker
17 great grandchildren: Jason Hunt, Rianna Hunt, Storm Bratcher, Shayne Bratcher, Sarah Bratcher, Kody Hughes, Trevor Priddy, Tommy Lee, Kaitlynn Laslie, Tyler Laslie, Kaleb Anthony, Noah Anthony, Wyatt Tucker, Morgan Tucker, Madeline Tucker, Allison, Tucker, Briley Tucker

Funeral services will be held at Coyles Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 2 PM with Rev. Kelly Tucker and Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation at the church on Saturday, 4-9 PM and Sunday after 8 AM under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.

IN MEMORY OF:
Herbert Hoover Richards

Herbert Hoover Richards, age 86 of Hardinsburg, KY died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on August 7, 1928, the son of the late Floyd and Mayme Rogers Richards. Herb was a Korean War Army veteran and retired factory worker. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Hardinsburg VFW Post 5831, Breckinridge County Bluegrass Association and The Dulcimer Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. He was a muscian who played rhythm guitar and was the former lead singer for The Whippoorwills. Herb enjoyed bluegrass music and entertained many patients at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital and residents of Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center with his talent. Uncle Herb loved and was loved by his many nieces, nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Earl, William, Pete, Duard and Noreen Richards, Opal Robbins, Gladys Smith and Helen SanSota.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Kinder Richards of Hardinsburg, KY
several nieces, nephews and their families

Funeral services will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Harry Dooley and Rev. Jeremy Earnest officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, 3:30 - 8 PM and Saturday after 8 AM.

William Cecil Bratcher

William Cecil Bratcher, age 74 of Cloverport, KY died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Falls of Rough, KY on May 23, 1940, the son of the late John Wesley and Mary Adeline Phillips Bratcher. He retired from Commonweath Aluminum and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Army veteran.

Preceding him in death were his sisters: Lois Knott, Dorothy Newby and Erleen Bratcher.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1 PM with Rev. Marvin Lagle officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, 3:30 - 8 PM and Saturday after 8 AM.

Dustin Owen Davis

Dustin Owen Davis, age 25 of Garfield, KY died Friday, September 12, 2014 at University Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He was born in Leitchfield, KY on December 12, 1988. Dustin was a farmer and member of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). He loved spending time with his girlfriend and their son. He was a generous person with a big heart and continued that generosity by giving the gift of life to others through KODA.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Charles Lucas and D O Davis.
