George Allen Harris, age 83 of Harned, KY died Sunday, 4-13-2014 at his residence. He was born in Hawesville, KY on July 26, 1930, the son of the late Raymond Malone and Georgia Lucille Harris. George was a retired carpenter, an Army veteran and attended Dukes Cumberland Presbyterian Church as a young man.

His family referred to him as a "tinkerer" who enjoyed restoring metal chairs and bicycles.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Jerry, Bobby and Glenda Harris, Janice Dent

Lucille Daugherty Adkins, age 90 of Cecilia, KY died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Baptist East Hospital. She was born in Hardin County, KY on September 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Haynes and Daisy Flowers Daugherty. Lucille was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, handwork and crafts. She attended Rough Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis Adkins

sisters: Louise Alexander and Mayetta John

Lucille is survived by her brother - Willard Daugherty of Custer, KY
sister - Oetta Carter of Louisville, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY on Sunday, 4-13-2014 at 2 PM EDT with Rev. John R. Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Howe Valley Cemetery. Those honored to be pallbearers for Lucille: Jason Willis, Kenneth Wayne Daugherty, Ova Alexander Jr., Marcus Tyler Miller, Sam Burden and Dennis VanMeter. Visitation will be held on Saturday, 4:30 - 9 PM EDT and Sunday after 11 AM EDT

Rhonda Kay Burns, age 66 of Stephensport, KY died Tuedsay, April 7, 2014 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Louisville, KY on October 30, 1947, the son of the late Dawson and Bertha Roller Harold. She was a former RN and truck driver. Rhonda enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband Robert Burns of Stephensport, KY

Cremation was chosen with private services to be held at a later date under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.

Joseph A. "Joe" Leslie, age 71 of Hudson, KY died Sunday, 4-6-2014 at Jewish Hospital. He was born in Hudson, KY on December 13, 1942, the son of the late Shickri Charles Leslie, Sr and Gertrude Smith Leslie. He was a retired farmer who loved working with his family and driving "the big red tractor". Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, tractor pulls, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid U of K basketball fan.
 
He was preceded in death by his brother -  S C Leslie, Jr.

Helen Lavion Poole, age 70 of Louisville, KY died Saturday, 4-5-2014 at her residence. She was born in Breckinridge County on March 28, 1944, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Lee Dean Pyles.

Helen retired from General Electric, was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting, baking, seek and find puzzles and was an avid U of L fan. She was an active member of Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church until her illness prevented her from attending.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Shelby, John and Sadie Pyles, Donell Greenlee, Nellie Styles, Janet Saalwaechter, Rosie Goode

Robert Cody Dodson, age 82 of Custer, KY died Friday, 4-4-2014 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on April 3, 1932, the son of the late William Cody and Hazel Gray Dodson. He retired from General Electric and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Robert enjoyed camping, boating and travelling. His family referred to him as a "tinkerer", especially with vehicles - he always wanted to change something on them to be unique to him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Palma Jolly

He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on November 17, 1932, the son of the late Coleman and Myrtle Mae Laslie Dowell. He was an Army veteran and member and deacon of New Bethel Baptist Church. Frank was a farmer who enjoyed working, gardening, fishing and eating out.

Barbara Riley Butler, age 71 of Edmonton, KY died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport, KY. She was born in Waterview, KY on June 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Cecil and Lurie Spears Riley. She was a member of Sulphur Wells United Methodist Church, a retired cook in the Metcalfe County school system and enjoyed all handwork, especially quilting and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyndon Butler and her brother Roy Riley.

Nancy Lucille Mattingly

Nancy Lucille Mattingly, age 80 of Harned, KY died Tuesday, 3-18-2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Breckinridge County on June 4, 1933, the daughter of the late Richard and Ada Davison Moore. She attended Locust Hill United Methodist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church. She worked beside her husband on the farm, lovingly cared for her family and friends enjoyed canning and creating  beautiful quilts and pillows.

Over the years she served faithfully at Locust Hill United Methodist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church. The three things that bought the most significiance to her life was her faith, her family and friends.

James Mattingly, her husband of almost 60 years and three brothers Murray, Elmer "Bootie" and Willis "Buck" Moore preceded her in death.

She is survived by 4 children: Bettye Turner of Elizabethtown,KY

She had many interests but especially loved her family and treasured time spent with her grandson Devin.

Ronald Theodore Dowell, age 74 of Hardinsburg, KY died Wednesday, 3-12-2014 at his residence. He was born in Breckinridge County on August 8, 1939, the son of the late Theodore and Cecil Roberts Dowell. He retired from Trans World Airlines, was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and an Army veteran. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and arguing politics with those brave enough to join the conversation.

He was preceded in death by his brother Mike Dowell and sisters Wanda Wagoner and Bobbi Shartzer.

Ruby Kathleen Wheatley

Ruby Kathleen Wheatley, age 90 of Floyds Knobs, IN died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Lincoln Hills Health Center in New Albany, IN. She was born in Breckinridge County, KY on April 12, 1923, the daughter of the late L.H. and Ada Driskell Niles.

Ruby was a life long member of the Methodist and Nazarene churches. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ and sang like an angel. On Sunday afternoons all the Niles family would gather for a hymn sing. She loved nature, working in her flowers, her yard and would always prefer to be outside rather than indoors. Ruby was a homemaker and wonderful seamstress who enjoyed making quilts.

She had a playful personality whose laugh and smile were infectious.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband James R. "Bob" Wheatley in 1996

She is survived by 5 children: Anita and her husband Dr. Joseph Marshall of Floyds Knobs, IN

Kyle was a mechanic for Bruce's Automotive Service and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. His family described him as a "tinkerer" who took things apart and tried to rebuild them into something else. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, race cars and being with his friends. Kyle was a devoted husband and Daddy.

Cynthia Porter Mattingly, age 85 of Hardinsburg, KY died Friday, March 7, 2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Anderson, South Carolina on February 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Hoyt and Lura King Porter. She was a retired elementary teacher with the Breckinridge County Board of Education, a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church, Breckinridge County Retired Teachers and Kentucky Retired Teachers. Cindy enjoyed the theatre and was a member of the Stephen Foster drama. She was active in her church, enjoyed reading and was a U of K Wildcat and Breckinridge County Tiger fan.

Her husband Charles Mattingly died June 29, 2013.

Morris Lee Cave, age 78 of McDaniels, Ky died Thursday, 3-6-2014 at his residence. He was born in Louisville, KY on March 1, 1936, the son of the late Wiley and Carrie Mae Sturgeon Cave.

Morris proudly served his country in the U. S. Army, retired from International Harvestor and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed watching TV, fishing, woodworking and was adored and loved by his devoted companions Penny and Winston.

He was preceded in death by his wife Naomi Cave in 2007.

He was a longtime resident of Hardin County, a graduate of Breckinridge County High School, an Army veteran, a member of Stephensburg United Methodist Church, VFW Post 081 in Leitchfield, KY and Post 0113 in Elizabethtown,KY. He was an installer-repairman for General Telephone and farmer before retiring from 23 years Civil Service at Fort Knox as a wire communications cable splicer and installer.

"Dump" loved his family, his farm and home place in Axtel on Rough River, Fords and classic country music.

He was preceded in death by his son - William Douglas Webster
sister - Octavian Butler and brother - Guy Webster

Surviving are 2 daughters - Kim McCary (Milton) of Elizabethtown, KY and Jamey Alvey (Robert) of Lebanon Junction, KY
3 grandchildren - Austin and Devin Webster and Allie Lowe
2 nieces, 1 nephew and several great nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 AM CST with Bro. Don Sexton officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the McDaniels Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, 4-8 PM CST and Saturday after 8:30 AM CST

Ople Juanita Eskridge Marshall, age 88 of Hardinsburg, KY died Friday, 2-28-2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Breckinridge County, KY on October 1, 1925, the daughter of the late Paul Andrew and Mary Alene Miller Eskridge. Ople was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was an artist and seamstress who enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Dowell Marshall

1 sister - Naomi Simmons

Ople is survived by 2 sons - George Douglas Marshall of Hardinsburg, KY and Jeffrey Wayne Marshall of Louisville, KY
1 grandchild: Brett Marshall
2 brothers - Travis Eskridge of Hardinsburg, KY and Leon Eskridge of Beaver Dam, KY
2 sisters - Jean Harmon of Louisville, KY and Wanda Simmons of Axtel, KY

Funeral services will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church on Friday, 3-7-2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, 4-8 PM and Friday after 8:30 AM.
