James Leroy King, age 68 of Custer, KY died Friday, July 18, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on October 15, 1945, the son of the late Oliver Fenwick and Hester Ann Powell. Leroy was a former employee of Cobble Concrete and a farmer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son Troy Ford
brothers and sister: Wayne and Bill King and Wanda Daugherty

Leroy is survived by his wife: Pearline King of Custer, KY
2 daughters: Chrystal Ford and Tammy Nottingham of Irvington,KY

Lloyd G. Russell, age 98 of Harned, KY died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Brownsville, KY on October 15, 1915, the son of the late Irvin and Linnie VanMeter Russell. He was an antique dealer who enjoyed gardening and antique cars. He attended Bethel Fellowship Church.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his wife - Nina Russell

3 brothers: Nayphaus VanMeter, Humphrey and Virgil Russell

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2 PM with Burial in the Bethel Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, 4-8 PM and after 8:30 AM Saturday. Memorial contributions are requested to: Lloyd Russell Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

IN MEMORY OF:
Herman Franklin Bruner

Herman Franklin Bruner, age 92 of Garfield, KY died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Garfield, KY on February 22, 1922, the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Nellie Morris Bruner. Mr. Bruner enjoyed his work as a farmer and attended Custer United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Pearl Robinson, Lucy Jackel, Matilda Marr, Katherine Basham, Billy Bruner and Ralph Bruner.

Mr. Bruner is survived by his wife of 66 years Idalena Triplett Bruner of Garfield, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Alisa Carman and Rev. Larry Hicks officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Custer Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, 3:30 - 8 PM and Saturday after 8:30 AM.

Pamela Jo Coffey

Pamela Jo Coffey, age 60 of Westview, KY died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. She was born in Louisville, KY on June 16, 1954.

Prior to her illness, she was an equipment operator for Inland Containers. She was a former member of the Red Devils Motorcycle Club, enjoyed shopping, playing bingo, flower gardening and watching her two favorite television shows: The Deadliest Catch and QVC.

She was preceded in death by her father - John R. Coffey and her sister - Vickie Coffey.
 
She is survived by her mother - Shirley Coffey of Westview, KY

John Albert Robinson

John Albert Robinson, age 81 of Versailles, KY died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Thomson Hood Veterans Center. He was born in Harned, KY on July 20, 1932,  the son of the late David E. and Lucy K. Dowell Robinson.

John Albert was a trainer of saddlebred and thoroughbred horses. He worked for former Governor, Brereton Jones, as well as, Jim B. Robertson Saddlehorse Farm.He was an Army veteran of the Korean War era, was a member of  Harned United Methodist Church and was a member of the South Central Hackney Pony Association.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Donald, Mose, Earl and Darrell.

Glenda A. Hinton Wright

Glenda A. Hinton Wright, age 71 of Hardinsburg, Ky passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Prospect, KY. She was born on December 16, 1942 the daughter of the late Carl and Anne Finney. Glenda retired from Rough River State Park where she was manager of the gift shop. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Lee Wright.

Delbert Lee Carter

Delbert Lee Carter, age 80 died at his home in Lodiburg, KY on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on February 2, 1934, the son of the late Estill Hayden Carter and Ada Mae Basham Carter. He lived in various locations in the county untill settling in Lodiburg for the past 48 years. He worked continously throughtout his life providing for his family.

 
In 1973, his son Freddie joined him forming a partnership in the logging and sawmill business, which later became Carter Sawmill, Inc. and included his other son Kevin. Carter Sawmill, Inc. has been family driven over the years including his grandchildren Keith, Nicholas, Anthony and other relatives over time.

Some of his hobbies and interests included watching his great grandchildren play at his feet, fishing, woodworking and going to auctions/sales and never buying anything. He was also a life long wrestling fan and thoroughly enjoyed Monday night wrestling.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, 11 months and 6 days - Thelma Lavern Basham Carter of Lodiburg, KY

Susan Monarch Blair Williams, age 42 of Prospect, KY died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on April 18, 1972.

Susan was a member of River Valley Christian Church where she also served as church secretary. She was the former director of the before and after school program and summer program at Landsdowne Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lexington, KY. Susan volunteered many hours at her daughter's school. She often helped by preparing meals at A Woman's Choice Resource Center and Necole's Place. She was an avid U of K Wildcat fan and attended many SEC tournaments with her husband.

As busy as she was, Susan always had time for her family and enjoyed doing things for them and with them. She spent time baking, cooking and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Jack Monarch and Stanley Blair.

Visitation at the church on Wednesday, 4-8 PM CDT and after 9 AM CDT Thursday under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.

Emma Marie Kennedy Smith, age 70 of Harned, KY died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Peoria, IL on June 18, 1944, the daughter of the late John William Kennedy, Sr and Beulah Mae Goatley.

She was a member of Hardinsburg Missionary Baptist Church, a former restaurant cook and affectionately referred to by her children as" a jack of all trades and great at all of them". Emma enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, reading her bible, bird watching and helping her neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her brother Curtis Kennedy.

She was a member of Antioch McDaniels United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and cooking. Margie graduated from Irvington High School and was a member of the last graduating class before the county schools consolidated.

She was preceded in death by her brother and sisters: Walter Butler, Edith Daugherty, Earline Allen and Dorothy Butler.

Nancy was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and helped in many ways including being a choir member and preparing meals for church events. She was a retired post master, a clerk for the Dyer General Store and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Kaye Lynn Carman

Kaye Lynn Carman, age 67, of Hardinsburg, Ky. died on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.  She is the daugther of Charlotte Taul and the late Dallas Taul. Kaye was born on February 6, 1947.  She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, watching television and spending time with her grandchildren. She was retired from the Hardinsburg Elementary School where she prepared many lunches for the children.

With her father, Kaye was also preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Thomas Carman.

In additon to her mother, Charotte of McQuady, Ky. Kaye is survived by her son, Jeffrey Carman of Harned, Ky. and her sister, Melissa Ann Carter and her husband Dale, of Big Spring, Ky.
Two grandchildren, Haley Ann and Austin Miller Carman and a nephew Troy Carter also survives.

Funeral Services for Kaye will be held at the Corinth Baptist Church in McQuady, Ky. on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Rupard officiating. Kaye will be laid to rest next to her father in the McQuady Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:30 to 8 p.m. central time on Saturday and from 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg.

The family request donations to the Corinth Baptist Church.

Vonnie Ree Haycraft Lynch

Vonnie Ree Haycraft Lynch, age 88 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Springfield, IL on January 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Henry Dillard and Gracie Lee Milam Haycraft. Vonnie was 18 months old when her mother passed away and was raised in the home of her grandparents Wavie and Lula Shartzer Milam. She retired from General Electric, was a member of Goshen Baptist Church and Bright Star #16 OES.

She was preceded in death by her husband James D. Lynch

She was a member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church, a former nurse's aide at Medco Center and was an avid U of K basketball fan.

Ray Jolly, age 65 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Webster, KY on June 9, 1949, the son of the late Virgil and Elvira Schott Jolly. Ray retired from the Breckinridge County Road Department, was a member of Horsley Chapel United Methodist Church and former member of Hardinsburg Masonic Lodge. He was a very loving and kind family man and enjoyed having Sunday dinner with them. He enjoyed farming and watching birds.

Alfred Woodrow Critchelow

Alfred Woodrow Critchelow, age 84 of McDaniels, KY died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born in McDaniels, KY on June 1, 1930, the son of the late Victor and Mary Brown Critchelow. Alfred, along with his brother Tom, owned and operated Tom and Al's on Rough River Lake from 1961 to 1997. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, enjoyed farming, gardening, reading the daily newspaper and square dancing with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his brother - Thomas Critchelow and sister - Mildred Boeshart

Marvin "Buck" Donald Longest

Marvin "Buck" Donald Longest, age 85 of Leitchfield, KY and formerly of Corydon, IN died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Bee Hive Assisted Living in Leitchfield, KY. He was born in Crawford County, IN on August 30, 1928, the son of the late Roy and Lucy Longest of English, IN.

Marvin entered the U.S. Navy immediately after graduating from high school and spent two years in the Atlantic area. He then moved to Tell City, IN where he worked 23 years for The News Publishing Company. He married Sylvia Ann Cook of Tell City, IN on August 6, 1948. In 1971, Marvin and Sylvia moved to Corydon, IN where he worked for O'Bannon Publishing Company for 20 years until he retired as the production manager in 1993.

Other activities and honors for Marvin included: editor of The Indiana Angus News, editor of The Santa Claus Times, editor of The Hoosier Jaycees, PTA President, Governor of the Moose Lodge in Tell City, IN, secretary of the Tell City Planning Commission, member of the American Legion, Scoutmaster, Tell City Jaycees, Tell City's Outstanding Jaycee 1957-1958, DSA Outstanding Young Man of the Year 1962, Junior Chamber International Senator 1965.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10 AM CDT with Rev. Greg Shannon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Lily Dale Cemetery in Gatchel, IN. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday, 4-8 PM CDT and Saturday after 8:30 AM CDT.

Mary Justine Triplett

Mary Justine Triplett, age 87 of Quincy, IL died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born in Breckinridge County, KY on August 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Marcelline Mattingly Beaven. Justine was the secretary for Notre Dame High School and retired after many years of service. She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and served as a eucharistic minister. Justine was an excellent seamstress, sewing for herself and others. Like others in her family, she was very musically talented and was a wonderful organist.

She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Triplett, Sr.

2 sisters: Rachel Ann Nolan and Mary Ruth Bye

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in McQuady, KY on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 12 PM CDT with Fr. Tim Nolan, nephew of Justine, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday after 10:30 AM CDT.

Alice Jane Brown Petry

Alice Jane Brown Petry, age 79 of Louisville, KY died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was born in Kingswood, KY on July 25, 1934, the daughter of the late Nathaniel Webster and Vivian Shelton Brown.

She was a graduate of Breckinridge County High School and Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Alice dedicated her life to helping others as a registered nurse. After her retirement she did volunteer work at Friendship House and treasured her time being a "doting grandmother".

A memorial service will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2 PM CDT with Rev. Paul Wallace officiating.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM CDT on Saturday.

Alice is continuing to care for others in death as she did in life by bequething her body to the University of Louisville School of Medicine for research.

Mable Virginia Dean

Mable Virginia Dean, age 82 of Hardinsburg, KY died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on April 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice Morton Alexander. Virginia touched the lives of many children in Breckinridge County by her interaction with them at  the Hardinsburg Elementary School cafeteria from which she retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church and former member of the Breckinridge County Historical Society.

She enjoyed all sports, but was an avid U of L fan, enjoyed watching and feeding her birds and squirrels and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Dean
2 daughters: Shirley Lee and Darlene Dean
1 grandson: Julius Doyle
3 sisters and 1 brother: Alberta, Sarah, Mary Bell and Charles Franklin
